Multi-band filter set Multicolor fluorescent labeling and imaging has a very important and wide range of applications in the life sciences and medical fields. The conventional approach is to use multiple single-band filter sets to collect the corresponding fluorescence images separately, and then superimpose multiple images into a single multicolor image.
This method provides the best signal-to-noise ratio and minimizes bleed-through between channels, but the disadvantage is that it is slow and to avoid image shifts, so a zero-drift filter set such as Chroma's ET series can only be used. To meet the demand for high-speed multicolor fluorescence imaging, Chroma's magnetron sputtering coating process enables complex spectral signatures through fine layer design and control, enabling up to five channels of multi-band filters in the visible region.
The Chroma ET series of multi-band filter sets feature high transmittance, high cut-off depth, and high spectral steepness, which can meet the needs of high-speed imaging while improving the excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
Depending on the type of excitation and emitter, the ET series of multi-band filters are divided into four categories to meet the needs of high-speed multicolor imaging. The composition of the different types of filter pack configurations, their respective benefits, example spectra, and mounting methods are as follows:
