Laser Bandpass Filter Set is a collection of optical filters designed to select or transmit a specific range of wavelengths from a laser source while blocking or attenuating unwanted wavelengths. This set is crucial in applications where the precision and purity of the laser light are essential. The set typically includes:Bandpass Filters,Dichroic Mirrors (or Beamsplitters),Longpass and Shortpass Filters (Edge Filters).

The primary purpose of a Laser Bandpass Filter Set is to ensure that only the desired wavelength(s) reach the target or detector, enhancing the system's performance by increasing signal-to-noise ratio, improving contrast, or isolating specific spectral lines for analysis or imaging. These filter sets are essential in various applications, including fluorescence microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, laser-based imaging, and optical communications, where the precise control of laser light properties is crucial for accuracy and efficiency.

Widefield light source and laser light source have different requirements for filters, which are mainly manifested in the following aspects:

1,Lasers have very good monochromaticity and require excitation sheets with narrow bandwidths;

2,Usually the experiment has certain requirements for the quality of the reflected laser beam, and the dichroic mirror used needs to be better flattened to reflect the wavefront of the laser Distortion is minimized;

3,The laser energy density is high, and the emitter requires a higher cut-off depth (OD value ) to reduce the excitation noise of the laser.

Chroma PCR Filters use an advanced magnetron sputtering coating process with high transmittance, high cut-off depth, and high steepness. Based on commonly used fluorescent probes, the center wavelength and bandwidth of the filter are optimized to avoid bleed-through between adjacent channels and provide the best signal-to-noise ratio for PCR experiments.

Ultra-flat Dichroic Mirrors

Chroma dichroic mirrors are characterized by magnetron sputtering coating technology, which is characterized by high layer density, excellent spectral characteristics and environmental tolerance. However, magnetron sputtering coating will produce greater stress on the substrate, resulting in a certain degree of bending of the substrate. In laser applications, if the dichroic mirror has a certain radius of curvature, the reflected laser light will become divergent or concentrated light, resulting in poor beam quality, which will affect the experimental results or the performance of the instrument. In addition, the flatness of the dichroic mirror is the key factor that determines the image quality of the reflection optical path in the optical path of reflection imaging.

Chroma's patented process of controlling the flatness of dichroic mirrors eliminates the effects of layer stresses and offers dichroic mirrors with different flatness depending on the needs of the application (UltraFlat series).
