Q&A

Q: How does the solar-blind UV camera work?

A: The working principle of solar blind UV cameras is based on their sensitivity to specific UV bands and their ability to suppress environmental interference.

  • The ultraviolet (UV) in solar radiation is divided into UVC (200-280nm), UVB (280-315nm), and UVA (315-400nm). UVC is almost completely absorbed by the ozone layer, resulting in extremely weak UVC radiation naturally occurring on the surface, forming a "sunblind zone." Solar-blind cameras only detect the UVC band of 200-280nm, reducing the interference of visible light.

  •  Imaging principle: The UVC light emitted by the target is focused into the camera through the lens, and the interfered light in the solar-blind band is filtered through the filter light, the detector converts the UVC photon into an electronic signal (analog signal), the ADC converts the analog signal into a digital signal, and the image is generated after noise reduction and contrast reduction by the algorithm.

Q: What are the core components of a solar-blind camera?

A: The core components of the solar-blind UV camera include: UV sensitive detector, efficient filter system, signal processing unit. Using UVC-sensitive semiconductor materials whose band gap width exactly matches the photon energy of the UVC, photons can be converted into electrical signals. The built-in narrow-band filter allows only 200-280nm UVC to pass through, completely blocking visible, UVA/UVB and infrared light. Low noise amplifiers are used to enhance weak signals.

Q: Advantages of solar-blind UV cameras?

A:

• High signal to noise ratio. It can significantly improve the ability of target signal recognition.

• Ability to work day and night. It can suppress sunlight interference during the day, and no additional light source is required at night.

• Non-contact detection. Suitable for remote detection in high-risk environment.

Q: What is the difference between UV solar-blind camera and ordinary camera?

A: Solar-blind cameras rely primarily on UVC source radiation and do not require ambient light to work. The image contrast is high, but the penetration of UVC is weak, resulting in less detail in the image.

Normal cameras rely on reflecting visible light for imaging and require ambient light. Rich in color and clear in detail, but easily limited by strong or low light conditions.
