1/8m Monochromator/Spectrograph | SIMTRUM Photonics Store

1/8m Monochromator/Spectrograph

The CM Series is a one-eighth meter, Czerny-Turner type monochromator/spectrograph. This Series is made up of a group of products: The CM110/112 Monochromator and the CMSP110/112 spectrometer. The focal lengths of both the Monochromator and Spectrometer offered is  110mm. Unlike other small devices that provide only one optical orientation, the Digikröm CM/CMSP 110 can accommodate both a straight through and a right-angle orientation from the source. For more information on right angle orientation, download the manual or open the Features tab.

CM 110 Monochromator  / Spectrographer

Single piece base construction, direct grating drive, and anti-backlash gearing ensure the unit is rugged and stable enough for demanding applications. Loaded with SP Optics and able to hold two high quality gratings, the CM110 is optimal for spectrometry in the UV to IR spectra with the necessary optics available.

Visit the Specification Sheet Tab for details on performance and resolution.

CM/CMSP110

§  Compact size (5.25 x 3.25 x 3.25 inches)  & Connection to computer via RS 232 interface.

§  Scans in both directions.Programmable in Angstrom, nanometres, microns, wavenumbers, or eV.

§  Double-grating turrets allows for broad  spectral range coverage.

§  User can change slit independently

§  May be factory configured as a monochromator or a spectrograph

§  Monochromator can also be factory configured for right angle or straight through beam path.

Application

Suitable for fluorescence, radiometry, process control, colorimetry, tuneable filtering, Raman spectroscopy, among others;

CM 112 Monochromator / Spectrographer

The CM112 are two single monochromators in series. The exit slit of the first monochromator is the entrance slit of the second. The two monochromators act as a double filter with the rejection of stray light being almost the square of the single monochromator value. As an additive instrument, the first grating spreads the spectrum over an angular range while the second grating then doubles this dispersion, achieving twice the resolution of a single 1/8m monochromator. As a subtractive instrument, the first monochromator selects a bandpass wihle the second monochromator then removes the temporal and angular aberrations introduced by the angular spectral dispersion in the first monochromator.

The CM112 supercedes ordinary monochromators with its second substractive monochromator which can recombine multiple wavelenghts in the bandpass and instead of creating multiple, overlapping images, it creates a clear image. Also, its subtractive dispersion mode can also utilize its second monochromator to equalize the optical path lengths such that broadening is reduced to a minimum.

CM/CMSP112

§  Compact   Size (5.25  x  6.25 x 3.25 inches) & Connection to computer  via  RS 232 interface.

§  Scans in both directions. Programmable in Angstrom, nanometres, microns, wavenumbers, or eV.

§  Dual double-grating turrets with automatic grating change allows for broad spectral range coverage.

§  May be factory configured as a monochromator or a spectrograph

§  Monochromator can also be factory configured for right angle or straight through beam path.

Application

Subtractive dispersion mode minimizes image distortion and   pulse spread, with sub-picosecond residual broadening of regular   monochromators.

Additive mode gives increased dispersion and low stray light for Raman fluorescence studies

Diffraction Gratings are optical components with a periodic structure which splits and diffracts lights into its wavelengths travelling in different directions. The directions of these wavelengths are dependent on the spacing on the grating and the wavelength of the incident light.

Terminology Guide

Wavelength Precision

It is the ability of the device to return to the same wavelength. The measured wavelength by the equipment should not drift over the range provided.

Wavelength Accuracy

It is a measure of the deviation of the wavelength when the standard wavelength is measured. You would expect the vaue of the wavelength to be the standard value with the deviation everytime you take a measurement.

Wavelength Resolution

It is the the ability of the instrument to differentiate between different wavelength of light.

Slewing speed

It is the rate which the wavelength is being read.

Band pass

The range of frequencies or wavelengths that can pass through the slits.
