SIMTRUM offers external cavity diode lasers utilize ultra-narrow-band interference filters as frequency-selective devices. Employing a cat-eye structure with a reverse self-collimating resonator to compress linewidth, these lasers offer advantages including high frequency stability, narrow linewidth, broad wavelength coverage, strong anti-interference capability, compact size, and long lifetime. Saturated Absorption Frequency-stabilized Modules
SIMTRUM's saturated absorption frequency-locked module integrates an atomic gas cell, gas cell heating module, optical components, temperature control circuitry, and signal detector. Spatial light (or fiber-coupled light) can be injected into the module to obtain the saturated absorption spectrum of atoms. The frequency-discriminated signal obtained through modulation and demodulation can be used to lock the laser frequency.

Digital PID Modules

SIMTRUM's digital PID module features high speed, high precision, and a 2MHz open-loop bandwidth. It supports hold, scan, and reference waveform scan functions, providing five signal types: triangle wave, square wave, sawtooth wave, sine wave, and AWG.
*Hold Function: Maintains stability after signal disappearance, suitable for signal locking within sequences.
*Scan Function: Generates multiple scan waveforms, facilitating applications such as laser frequency locking.
*Reference Waveform Scan Function: Locks the signal to a preset waveform configured via the host computer.

Test Data

Hardware Delay Test Results: The PID hardware delay is 210 ns, comprising 98 ns for ADC delay, 103 ns for DAC delay, and 8 ns for internal FPGA signal synchronization.
Beyond hardware delays, the PID computation delay is 56 ns, resulting in a total system delay of approximately 270 ns.

 

Open-loop Bandwidth Test: Set the network analyzer to S21 mode to measure the transfer function from PID signal input to output. The phase exhibits a discontinuity at 2.05 MHz.

Long-term Stability Test: With digital PID enabled, the laser power fluctuation VPP does not exceed 0.03% over a 20-minute period. However, under the same duration with digital PID disabled, power fluctuation VPP approaches 10% due to inherent laser characteristics and fiber coupling factors.

 

 
Scanning Fabry-Perot Interferometer
SIMTRUM's scanning Fabry-Pérot interferometer incorporates two high-reflectivity mirrors. By adjusting the mirror spacing via piezoelectric transducers, the cavity functions as an ultra-narrow bandpass filter. After measuring the free spectral range of the confocal cavity, the oscilloscope's time base can be calibrated to quantitatively measure laser linearity.

Transmitted photodetector signal during 780 nm laser frequency sweeping

Fitting of Peak A yielded peak position and width of 0.059 and 0.147, respectively.

Fitting Peak B yields a peak position of 28.97 and a width of 0.134. Combined, these values indicate a fineness of approximately 205.8 at 1063 nm, with a resolution of 1500/205.8 ~ 7.3 MHz.
