Ti: Sapphire(Ti: Al2O3) is a widely used crystal for tuneable lasers and femtosecond solid-state lasers due to its properties. Their wide absorption band that is centred at 490nm makes it very suitable for many laser pump sources while the short fluorescence lifetime of Ti:Sapphire crystals at 3.2μs. 


Ti: Sapphire is compatitable for short pulse flashlamps with high powered lasers. The crystal, having high laser cross sections, has a lower tendency for Q-switching instabilities. Ti:Sapphire also boasts more than 50% SHG conversion efficiency and produces good beam quality with high output power.
