Ba(NO3)2(Barium Nitrate) is a non-linear crystal with a wide optical transmission range from 350-1800nm, a vibrational Raman mode of 1047cm-1 and high quantum conversion efficiency for 1st and 2nd Stokes components. 


This makes it very suitable for Raman applications. In fact, they have the highest gain coefficient among other SRS(surface raman scattering) crystals, where the gain coefficient affects the threshold for Raman laser. Ba(NO3)2 are also used as frequency converters in tunable lasers for the extension of tuning range. One such application would be as a substitute forfrequency converter in organic dye 

solutions, which would improve the device’s performance characteristics.
